  • Straight stitch needle plate (optional)
  • Stitch Regulator (optional)
  • Tweezers
  • Snips

PREPARATION

  • Prepare panel quilt sandwich – press panel and backing, and pin-baste  backing, batting and panel together (see detailed instructions below) - Install quilting needle, wind bobbin and thread machine
  • Attach walking foot / activate dual feed
  • Cut 1 backing 40” x 50”

BASTING

  • Basting - it is essential to baste the quilt to prevent the fabric from  shifting during quilting to prevent unwanted puckers and wrinkles - Cut batting and backing 4” larger than quilt top in both directions. - Pin basting - Lay out backing WS up, smooth and use masking tape to  affix to table keeping the fabric taut but not over stretching. Float over  the batting and center the quilt top and pin from the center out at 4”  intervals; remove pins as you sew
  • Spray basting – tape backing to table WS up, lay batting down, fold half  batting over on itself – spray backing, settle batting down; repeat on  other side. Lower quilt top over batting, fold up half, spray the batting to  affix and repeat. Be careful of overspray.
